Today, we shine the Employee Spotlight on Product Manager, Greg Backstrom. Greg describes his day-to-day responsibilities as product manager to be a little different each day. He divides his time researching internal and external user needs, defining potential solutions, supporting engineering to bring these solutions to life and evaluating their impact once released. In addition, Greg also works on personalized projects that give other teams at Boost better visibility into how well we’re performing toward our internal goals and what’s going on in the paid search and creative optimization industry.

 

As a product manager at Boost Media, Greg helps to deliver products that empower customers to become more profitable by sourcing diverse, better-performing marketing messaging while reducing the time and effort required to manage advertising creative. His goal is to optimize Boost’s business needs, technological capabilities and user experience.

 

Before joining the Boost family, Greg founded and self-funded Snap Tailor – an eCommerce business. Prior to that, he worked at various startups in the clean energy sector and spent several years as a technical account manger helping to build solar module factories in Asia. Greg explains:

 

“I have many diverse interests which have exposed me to many different fields in my short career, though I’ve been interested in the web since I taught myself to build websites using html and css while in high school”

 

Greg grew up in rural Minnesota, living on a farm until he was six. He received his BS in mechanical engineering at UC Berkeley and earned a MBA from Harvard Business School. Outside of Boost, Greg enjoys being active – spending time at the gym, running along the Embarcadero, skiing in Tahoe or hiking at different locations in the Bay Area.
