This week, the Executive Spotlight is on Senior Vice President of Marketing, Shawn Myers. As SVP Marketing, Shawn leads global marketing for Boost Media.

His primary responsibilities are to ensure that every brand or agency marketer who is trying to improve their ad creatives has heard of Boost Media, and how we can help them improve their ad creatives to improve their customer engagements. As Shawn describes, most days you can find him working with his team to get the word out; crafting press releases, planning our next big event, or writing a killer piece of content for engaging our prospects.

Shawn describes himself as a storyteller who is passionate about educating people through good stories. As Shawn explains:

“Boost Media at its core is a great solution and a great story. From how our solutions help enable new sources of income from our talented pool of ad copywriters, to using advanced analytics and data science to understand what engages consumers and how to scale marketing success.”

Shawn is most excited to join the Boost organization because he believes that our company is in a very unique position, creating a new category in the marketing and advertising technology stack and with a unique solution to a wide-spread problem. As Shawn expresses, “It’s our challenge and our excitement to open peoples’ eyes to a new approach to improving their creative.” He hopes to generate awareness that our combination of a curated writer marketplace and cutting edge SaaS technologies can remove limits of time and resources for marketers, so they can develop and scale truly engaging ad copy that resonates with consumers.

Shawn’s career in the tech industry goes back to the early days of Internet during a truly transformative period. He worked at one of the very first web analytics companies called Internet Profiles Corporation (I/PRO). After experiencing the rise and fall of many Web 1.0 companies, Shawn returned to school, focusing on entrepreneurship, and earned an MBA from the Haas School of Business. At Haas, he had the opportunity to work with many exciting technology companies including Inktomi, one of the early leaders in the search market.

After receiving his MBA, Shawn shifted into venture capital before returning to the entrepreneurial side of the table, helping new companies, and working with many early stage tech ventures. In 2003, Shawn was introduced by a friend to two entrepreneurs working to apply Wall Street portfolio approaches to the merging market of Paid Search Marketing. Anil and Anand took those early ideas and turned them into Efficient Frontier, one of the leaders that introduced and dominated the SEM market. After a monumental growth period, Adobe acquired Efficient Frontier in 2011 as part of their strategy to build a marketing cloud. After Efficient Frontier, Shawn worked in lead generation with Adteractive, product recommendations with MyBuys, cross-channel marketing with Responsys and most recently, led marketing at StrongView.

Shawn grew up in Oakland, CA, before it was a growing technology hub, and only left the Bay Area for a short time to receive his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in Chicago. There, he studied economics and anthropology, but his self-proclaimed ‘lack of weather endurance abilities’ drove him back to the Bay Area after graduation. Shawn and his wife settled on the Peninsula fifteen years ago, a central location between the two major tech hubs of San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Outside of Boost, Shawn enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and two children exploring the outdoors and taking in all the wonderful opportunities California provides – from the beaches to the mountains.
