There’s a little bite of fall in the air in New England; it’s a little cooler and the days are getting noticeably shorter, but apparently things are still feeling pretty fresh in Mountain View.
Here’s the latest from Google:
Keepin’ it fresh with seller ratings extensions announces some changes to how Google displays seller ratings. Now, Google will only show seller rating extensions for advertisers that have had at least 30 reviews over the last 12 months and a 4-star average vs. before when they showed seller rating extensions for advertisers with a minimum of 30 lifetime reviews and a 4-star average.
The Learn with Google webinar series reports having good attendance and feedback for the 3 they did over the summer. Have you attended any? This webinar is good timing because, now AdWords scripts are available to all AdWords users!
And, yesterday Google announced that after being in beta for a while, demographic targeting is now available by age and gender in 39 countries. It will start to appear in the Display Network Tab as Age and Gender targeting. You can see details here.
Meanwhile, in Microsoft-land:
We saw a very similar post from Google in last week’s Weekly PPC Roundup. “adCenter is planning to migrate from metros to DMAs in late September through October. During this period, all advertisers currently targeting metros will be automatically migrated to DMAs.” Read more about what you need to do for a smooth migration here.

The HubSpot blog has an article called 7 Telltale Signs Your Competitor is a Total Schmuck. One of these signs (actually the first one) is when they bid on your brand keywords in PPC. Hmmm. Well, any article that uses the word “schmuck” in the title is ok by us.
Finally, Search Engine Watch has an article for beginners called Setting up PPC Campaigns that recommends starting with goals and working backward. Great idea!
