This week’s PPC roundup is inspired by the increasing activity (panic?) taking over as the holidays draw near. As the end of the year draws near, there are still some ways that you can capitalize on the holiday rush in your PPC and SEO campaigns during the rest of December. Let’s have a look at some of the best search-related resources on the Web this week:

Search Engine Journal – Yahoo! Site Explorer Alternative with QBL. You may have noticed that Yahoo! Site Explorer is no longer functioning. For many, this has felt pretty catastrophic. I’m sure many of you reading this have relied on this handy tool on a nearly daily basis. But thankfully, Laura Cruz at Search Engine Journal has done some digging and offers up an alternative that she describes as a “link building wonder weapon”.

Speaking of wonder weapons, the holidays are a more important time than ever to be making use of your social media channels. You’ve got a high concentration of people surfing the web for gift ideas (for others and themselves), sales, and other holiday activity. Twitter’s site redesign offers some helpful functionality at a key time of year when sharing is caring (and profitable). Search Engine Watch has the lowdown on all the new features and how to use them for your business.

While we’re visiting Search Engine Watch, this great article by John Lee addresses holiday trends for those of us who are managing nontraditional campaigns at the holidays – nonprofits, products targeting teens, service businesses, and travel businesses. He offers some helpful tips for navigating the holiday landscape in the sectors of the market that don’t fall under the traditional e-commerce blanket.

Do you have your click-through rates straight this holiday season? Slingshot SEO came out with an infographic to compare click-through rates on Bing vs. Google on the SEOMoz blog this week. Among some of the highlights are a ranking factors comparison chart, monthly queries, and the average monthly queries for each other’s name on the opposite search engine. (As you can probably guess, there are a lot more searches for “google” on Bing than vice versa). Check it out!

Are you facing the reporting vs. optimizing dilemma? Benny Blum on Search Engine Land can help show you how to make use of the best of both worlds with third party bid management solutions, daily conversions calculations to find errors and discrepancies in data, and more.

Last but not least, we couldn’t let the weekly roundup slip by without at least one article about mobile! It’s taking over the holiday marketplace and Amanda at PPC Hero is ready to tell it like it is in her article “If The Need For A Mobile Campaign Hasn’t Smacked You Yet, Let Me Help”. She offers some stats to motivate you to move in the mobile direction as well as some tips for targeting tablets.

That’s all for this week’s PPC roundup. Thanks for reading and as always, please feel free to leave your own finds in the comments below or catch up with us on twitter. Have a great weekend!
